Description: Capt. Roscoe Brown scored two victories while flying his P-51
"Bunnie" with the 100th Fighter Squadron, 332nd Fighter Group which deployed to Italy in December of 1943. He became the commander of the 100th Fighter Squadron near the end of the war. He was also a part of the March 24, 1945 fifty-nine plane mission led by Col. Benjamin O. Davis escorting B-17 and B-24 bombers of the 115th Air Force on their longest raid of 1600 miles round trip to attack the Daimler-Benz tank works in the outskirts of Berlin. On this mission while over Berlin, the bombers were attacked by the German's latest fighter aircraft, the Me-262 and rocket powered Me-163 fighter aircraft. During the ensuing dogfight, Captain Brown destroyed an Me-262 becoming the first pilot to shoot down a jet with a conventional aircraft.
