Situation: Stan’s dramatic painting depicts Pan American’s China Clipper – a Martin M-130 – taking off from Hong Kong Harbor in the late 1930s. The flying boats of Pan American brought both mail and passenger service to the far flung corners of the globe, and introduced commercial air services to many countries. This golden era is commemorated in Stan’s painting.
